This policy explains what information Real Estate Explained collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep it readable. Each section opens with a plain-English summary of what it actually means. The detail underneath is the part that controls.
1. Who we are
In plain English: A U.S. real estate education brand. We sell a free PDF guide and a paid 28-day course.
"Real Estate Explained," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of the website at this domain. We provide educational content about U.S. real estate investing, including a free downloadable guide, a paid online course, a blog, and supporting tools. We do not provide individual investment, tax, or legal advice.
2. Information we collect
In plain English: Your email when you ask for the free guide. Account info if you buy the course. Standard analytics like any website.
We collect the following categories of information:
- Information you give us directly. Your email address when you submit a form (free guide, newsletter, or contact). Your name, email, and billing details when you purchase the course.
- Account information. If you enroll in the course, we create an account using the email from your purchase. You set a password through a one-time link sent to that email. The course stores your progress, notes, and saved calculator scenarios.
- Information from your browser. IP address, device type, browser type, referring URL, the pages you visit on this site, and timestamps. Standard request data.
- Cookies. Small text files used to keep you signed in to the course, remember preferences, and measure site performance.
We do not collect government-issued identifiers, financial account numbers, or precise location data.
3. How we use it
In plain English: To deliver what you signed up for, run the business, and send you the occasional helpful email. Never to sell.
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver the free guide and course you requested.
- Create and manage your course account.
- Process payments and provide receipts.
- Send transactional emails (password setup, purchase confirmations, course updates).
- Send marketing emails about new content, lessons, and resources, if you opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Improve the site by analyzing how visitors use it in aggregate.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. Your rights and choices
In plain English: You can ask for your data, ask us to delete it, or unsubscribe. Email us and we'll handle it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You may also have the right to object to certain processing, or to withdraw consent you previously gave.
To exercise any of these rights, email us through the contact page. We will respond within 30 days. If we cannot fulfill a request (for example, because a legal obligation requires us to retain the data), we will explain why.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. Unsubscribing does not affect transactional emails related to your account or purchase.
7. How long we keep information
In plain English: As long as it's useful, then we delete it. Purchase records stick around longer because tax law requires it.
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements. Specifically:
- Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression-list period to ensure we honor your unsubscribe.
- Course accounts: for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will do so within 30 days, except for records required by law.
- Purchase records: retained for the period required by U.S. tax law (currently seven years) for accounting and audit purposes.
- Aggregate analytics: retained indefinitely in a form that does not identify individuals.
8. Security
In plain English: We use industry-standard practices. No system is bulletproof, so we won't pretend ours is.
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. These include encryption in transit (HTTPS), encrypted storage, access controls, and the use of reputable third-party processors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident occurs that affects your information, we will notify you and any required regulators in accordance with applicable law.
9. International users
In plain English: We're a U.S. company. If you're outside the U.S., your data is processed here.
Real Estate Explained is operated from the United States, and our third-party providers are primarily located in the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, you understand and agree that your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Children
In plain English: The site isn't for kids. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Real Estate Explained is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
In plain English: If we change anything material, we'll update the date at the top and email subscribers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you are a subscriber or student) or by a notice on the site. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact
In plain English: Questions? Email us through the contact page.
For privacy questions, data requests, or anything else covered by this policy, reach out through our contact page. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe, and within 30 days for formal data requests.
